The bank routing number is 9 digits long and is located in-between the MICR separators that appear like a pipe next to a colon |:. The check account number is the other number that is located after the routing information. Though often the check account number at the bottom precedes the check number, the check number may appear first. The check number is the only number that is repeated on the check. Once in the upper right hand corner, and again at the end of the routing information below.
